Short trip to Thailand: beautiful country, awesome culture and nice people. Besides enjoying the river tour we had broaden our horizon on sky bars and temple mountains, floating markets and night bazars. I will definately come back to enjoy the sunny beaches with crystal-blue water and white sand, we missed during our trip...

my last very relaxing trip to thailand. i spend the days doing nothing and diving. it was amazing experience and the weather in the mid september was amazing, even if still monson season. the video shows me doing nothing in the beach in front of my bungalow... 
Fourteen year ago I crossed the border from Thailand into Lao for the first time and visited the Plain of Jars, then one of the remotest places on earth. Over the next few years I was to cross the Thai/Lao border a further six times, these visits finished 11 years ago. Many times I considered going back but was always put off by not wanting to spoil my memories of this idyllic little rural nation.

The water in the river Kwai is unusually clear, and being in the mountains it has speed. The pink bougainvillea above however reminds me of a flower pot by a Venice balcony. Strange how a water body adds beauty to commonplace things. The colourful boat cruising by above adds its charms to the evening.
This is one of my favourite curries that I cook every now and then. It is Chicken and wax gourd curry or “gang khua fak gup gai” in Thai. You cook it in much the same way as other red curries but there is an extra step with the wax gourd.
On our trip to Thailand (Koh Samui) relaxing on Chaweng beach we got swamped by people trying to sell us things, especially this guy who was so funny! Sorry its sideways, and the end gets better :)
