St Marteen of Thailand! Go stroll on a beach and WHAM! the plane swoops over your head! The final was longer than it should because the approach initially cleared us for VOR09. After we got the runway insight we requested a visual approach but then they cleared us for visual quite very late due to another traffic and we were almost over the IAF.

The other Saturday, our smaller students had their sport day. Just like their bigger counterparts they too dress up and have a small parade along the main road of Ubon Ratchathani. At school we are hitting what can only be called the ‘silly season’. We have so many ceremonies and special days ahead and this brings about a lot of mind numbing activities. Our newest building on display, a sports gymnasium.

Thousands Sing National Anthem

In September, the Thai government started a new project called “United Thais - Strong Thailand” with the intention to promote unity and patriotism. Thai people normally sing or at least stand for the national anthem twice a day at 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Sunday Market in Chiang Mai

If you are planning on visiting Chiang Mai, I would recommend that you include a Sunday in your schedule. That is the day when Thailand’s best handicrafts market spreads out in the streets of the old city - a perfect opportunity to buy souvenirs and presents.

Last week of school there was practicing every day for senior students as there was a very important parade taking place. On Friday there was a guard of honour lining the entrance to the school. Also outside the school the students were lined along the road. This was a very significant parade.
