The Sky Train system in Bangkok was planned to be the answer to all the traffic problems of the city. I remember joining thousands of others on the first day that it opened on the King’s birthday in 1999. In theory it was a good idea, but in reality it didn’t work well as it wasn’t very extensive. For us in Samut Prakan, we had to drive 40 minutes to the nearest skytrain station and then quite often we would still have to take a bus or taxi to reach our final destination
A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Bangkok, Thailand by TravelPod blogger Chrisandjacqui titled "Plan B" Chrisandjacqui's travel blog entry: "Plan A was to continue exploring China and then to catch the Trans-Siberian Express, through China, into Siberia and across Russia to Moscow...however Russia will no longer issue visa's to people who do not reside in the country where they are applying from. You cannot travel in Russia unless you have the correct dates, proof of departure and hotels, etc organised and we couldn'y do that without a visa. We entered China to look at other options but we decided to execute Plan A another time...
A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Koh Chang, Thailand by TravelPod blogger Mike_ritchie titled "Koh Chang" Mike_ritchie's travel blog entry: "We decided to visit Koh Chang, and Lonely Beach in particular because it sounded like one of the least developed places we could get to in the low season. Annoyingly, everything we read about it started with the smug caveat "of course it's not what it used to be" which was both annoying and irrelevant.
A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam by TravelPod blogger Nickyloo titled "Good morning Vietnam" Nickyloo's travel blog entry: "My first impressions of Vietnam weren't great. I got on my bus in Vientiane ready for my 'bus journey from hell' and was very surprised when a man was rude to me. My whole time in Laos the people had been nothing but polite and friendly and it suddenly clicked that he wasn't Laos but Vietnamese. You know, we Singaporeans come to Thailand, always complain complain. “Wah lau eh, why so disorganized one the traffic lah, the administrative system lah, the restaurant sucks lah no system, the business so jialat no one answer my call, sure no system lah… etc etc etc”.

Darkest Isan (where decent thais fear to tread), Part Three Thailand’s greatest ancient monument, the 900 year old Khmer temple complex sitting on top of a volcano with a panoramic view stretching to Cambodia’s plains and mountains. After Buriram where watching paint dry is better than the town’s day life (don’t mention nightlife) tiny Nang Rung with absolutely no redeeming features whatsoever is a step up in the world. If the word ugly could drawn, planned, paid for, a gang of labourers hired to build it and me forced to go there to see it, it would be called Nang Rung, and I’d still be there going thank God I’m here not in Buriram anymore

One of the questions that we sometimes receive in our mailbox and over at the ThailandQA.com forums is this one: “How do Thai people celebrate their birthdays?” Well, they don’t often celebrate in the way that we do in the West. This often means no cake, no presents and no party for your friends if you are a child. Birthdays are not usually marked in the same way here as we did with birthday parties when we were younger.
St Marteen of Thailand! Go stroll on a beach and WHAM! the plane swoops over your head! The final was longer than it should because the approach initially cleared us for VOR09. After we got the runway insight we requested a visual approach but then they cleared us for visual quite very late due to another traffic and we were almost over the IAF.
The other Saturday, our smaller students had their sport day. Just like their bigger counterparts they too dress up and have a small parade along the main road of Ubon Ratchathani. The following are pictures of kindergarten and primary 1 – 3 students. Here some of the kids are beneath the large Christmas tree set-up outside Ubon’s most luxurious hotel
