Last night I was bored, well because I was home alone and no Nong Ja to play with and keep me occupied I decided to have a couple of beers and watch the Australian Rules Football. Next week is the Thai election, Thais will vote for one of the useless parties that are not worth a pinch of shit, but the Thais will return home to their villages and vote, plus get their money from each candidate. Vote buying is in your face and everybody knows about it.
The other day I touched on the finding of a few hundred foetuses found at a temple in Bangkok. At the time that was the number but that has now exploded to over 2,000.

Thailand has two main English language newspapers, the Nation and the Bangkok Post. This week both papers have carried stories about the spread of swine flu to Thailand and some shipping containers believed to contain human remains that are thought to be on the sea bed in the Gulf of Thailand. Both papers have taken [...]

They first met on the roof of a train heading from Bangkok to Pattaya, both men had been a few baht short of the fare. Two men from very different backgrounds and with differing opinions on life, but both with one common cause. They had a hunger [...]

The Thai word for eat is “ghin khao” which translates literally to “eat rice.” Thai rice is the largest of Thailand’s exports, which also makes the country the worlds largest rice exporter, in fact Thai rice exports were expected to top 10 million tons in 2008.

The western world calls it a talisman but in Thailand the lucky charm worn by millions is named an amulet although they are not always lucky. Such is the popularity of these lucky charms in Thailand that in April 2007 a woman was stampeded to death at an amulet auction in Nakhon Si Thammarat province. [...]
Due to the current political events taking place in Thailand I have decided not to go ahead with my original light hearted post looking at the Songkran Festival. I would however like to wish all ex pats, tourists and especially the people of Thailand a very happy and safe Songkran period. Best wishes from Beyond [...]
After the success of Thai Bar Girls - Money for Honey I am now going to turn my attention onto go go girls and wrap up my mini series.
There are a few different ways of escaping the afternoon heat of Pattaya, and slipping into one of the many go go bars to enjoy a happy [...]
Welcome to the blog review for March. Last month saw many quality Thailand blog posts hit the screens around the globe, once again proving what a colourful and topical place the Land of Smiles is.
I have never visited Chiang Mai before and it’s one destination I intend adding to my “places visited” list sometime [...]

SPIEGEL: Dr. Thaksin, the news emerged from Bangkok on Friday that Sonhi Limthongkul, the leader of the government loyal Yellow Shirts, barely survived an assassination attempt. He has always been one of your most dogged opponents.

Asia Times:
Exiled former premier Thaksin Shinawatra has in interviews told foreign news outlets - including the BBC and CNN - that the Thai military killed and secretly carted away the bodies of an undisclosed number of his red shirt followers on April 13, when troops cracked down on anti-government protests in a pre-dawn operation on [...]
Very few seem to want to point out that this crisis is not just about yellow versus red, but Bangkok Chinese versus upcountry ethnic Thai/Lao. Just look at the faces of the people who are Red and Yellow.
I know the ethnic lines are not 100% clear cut, and Thaksin is Chinese himself(though from the Lao [...]
