Grilling Food The Thai Way Ubon Ratchathani Thailand.

A little while back we ventured over to Khrung Thep Restaurant here in Ubon Ratchathani. I have blogged on this plenty of times as we really like the food there and is excellent value for money. If you want to see pictures of the quality food click on this link as the pictures below are from my iPhone and crap. Nong Ja and Benjawan were trying to be ghosts and scare me.

Railay is a peninsular piece of land, attached to the mainland, but because access is only by boat, it has an island-ish feel about it. It has spectacular scenery, mainly due to the massive karsts (limestone rocks) that jut out everywhere

Given the lengthy train journeys we have already undertaken it seems slightly wimpish to say that we decide that Hua Hin is just far enough from Bangkok after our overnight journey. Are we getting to the point where we don't really want to move for a bit?

The Battle of Two Wits, A 2yo and Brunty, Isaan Thailand.

The last few days have been interesting I can tell you. It started Last Thursday in the afternoon when I arrived home from work and noticed that Nong Ja had a bit of a cough. I was hoping it was nothing and just a itchy throat or something

Are Thai Street Food Stalls Really Dangerous?

This week we have the tragic news of a young New Zealand tourist, Sarah Carter, who died while on holiday in Thailand. Reports are not clear yet, but it seems that 23 year old Sarah died from food poisoning after eating at a market stall in the Northern Thailand city of Chiang Mai. Two of her friends, Emma Langlands and Amanda Eliason, also suffered from food poisoning though Emma seems to be recovering now. Initial headlines that went around the world stated “NZ woman dies after Thai food poisoning”

Chinese Festival Parade in Nakhon Sawan

The most important date on the festival calendar for Nakhon Sawan is the annual Paknam Pho Chinese New Year Festival which lasts for 12 days and 12 nights. The highlights are definitely the two “Chao Por-Chao Mae” Processions which take place in the evening and then the following morning. I recently attended both of these parades through the city and I must say that it was the most impressive Chinese parade that I have seen for a long time. Chinese migrants have been settling down all over Thailand for hundreds of years

Monks Doing Alms Round by Boat

For those of you who are finding that Amphawa Floating Market is becoming too crowded and touristy, then I recommend that you step back in time by staying overnight in one of the many homestays that can be found along Amphawa Canal. In the olden days, before roads and cars, these canals were the lifeline of the local villagers.
