Video Conferencing in the Thai Classroom

When I first started teaching at Sriwittayapaknam School nearly 17years ago, I used to do penpal projects between my Thai students and students in other countries such as America, England and Australia. It was great fun for all the students involved as they got to communicate with people on the other side of the world. However, we could usually only do it two or three times as there were long delays involved

Teacher Qualifications, Cheering, Paperwork, Casino and Holiday, Isaan Thailand.

Well it has been a while since updating, not a lot has been happening really. I have been spending plenty of time with my niece and Miss Noot as well. We are coming into what I call the “silly season” as we have so many things happening at the school that we hardly seem to teach this last semester

How to Blog on Your iPhone

I have been blogging about my trips in Thailand for many years. Normally I have to wait until I come back before I post my pictures and report. For a long time I have been wanting to be able to post my blogs live. Finally, earlier this year, technology caught up with me

Caught in the Rain, Isaan Thailand.

I was sitting at home a little earlier this evening working on the computer and then glanced at the clock, it was just before 7pm and I needed to go to the supermarket and buy a few things. As soon as I had the keys to my motorbike in my hand my niece Nong Ja was onto me and wanting to come along. So we jumped on the bike and 500mtrs later we are in Big C, we had just walked into the supermarket and grabbed a basket when what sounded like thousands of rocks being thrown onto the roof. It was of course rain, and it was absolutely pissing down

A New Tattoo in Ubon Ratchathani, Isaan Thailand.

Tonight I ventured over to a newish tattoo shop here in Ubon Ratchathani. The shop is near Big C shopping centre, but on the smaller soi where all the food shops are. If you know where the toilets are on this soi, then straight across the road is the tattoo shop. Right next door is an internet shop.

Ubon Red Shirts Out of Control, Isaan Thailand.

As most would know the situation in Thailand with the red shirts has now got right out of hand. There is apparent looting and fires raging in Bangkok.

An iPhone, Twitter and the Red Shirt Rally

What do smartphones, Twitter and the Red Shirt rallies in Bangkok have in common? The answer is simple. It has at times meant the difference between life and death for foreign tourists and expats in Bangkok

Trip to Trang and Satun in Southern Thailand

I have just returned from a three day trip to Trang and Satun in the South of Thailand. I was invited by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to join them to do “Product Testing for Quality Tourists”.

New Blogs about Life in Thailand

For a while now I have been doing a number of other blogs about Thailand. These are more personal ones about every day things that I experience in Thailand. This first one is a “moblog” which I will go into more detail later. It is called that because I blog from my mobile phone

Metropolitan Electricity Authority, Up their Ass

Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) of Thailand can go fuck themselves good. As always in Thailand, doing some of the most basic stuffs such as paying your bills can sometimes tear your balls into pieces.

Media Players in Thailand

When I first came to Thailand fifteen years ago there wasn’t really that much in the way of English media. All we had at the time were two national newspapers in English and a few programmes on television if we tuned in to a certain radio station to get the English soundtrack. Also, if I travelled into Bangkok I could watch the latest Hollywood movies with the original soundtrack. Things have certainly changed

Girls wanted …

A Computer Idiot and Savoury Mince, Isaan Thailand.

Well I have been offline for a little while, mainly because it was my own fault. I have been playing around with my personal computer at home. I have 2 PC’s and also my laptop. One computer I use exclusively for this sort of thing, searching the internet and general use.
