A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Ko lanta, Thailand by TravelPod blogger Sazzle titled "Catch up an our journey so far" Sazzle's travel blog entry: "Sorry we havent been in touch so i appologise for the very long update, you might have had some of it already. But i do like to repeat myself!! We had an early start, 5am to be precise to watch over 300 monks collecting alms (food) from local people along the streets before going to their monasteries. This was a weird site, bright orange robes as far as you could see! Next we visted The Royal Museum, loads of artefacts - boring, boring, boring! We took a lunchtime flight with Lao Airlines to Vientiene, the capital of Laos. Dont know why they bother having a stop here, its naff! We had some local food overlooking the Mekong
A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Hanoi, Vietnam by TravelPod blogger Duncanandemma titled "Christmas Adventures" Duncanandemma's travel blog entry: "We decided to spend our Christmas break in Vietnam and Cambodia and deny all knowledge of the festive season until we get back to the UK in March to celebrate with family and friends. Our journey took us first to Hanoi with Ya for a couple of days. What a crazy city! Vehicles (cars, vans, buses, trucks, motorbikes, millions of mopeds, bikes and rickshaws) share both the roads and pavements with pedestrians and vice versa.
It is that time of year again when the Christmas decorations go up and the shopping malls start to play Christmas songs such as Jingle Bells and Santa’s Coming to Town. Sometimes it is difficult to believe that we are living in a Buddhist country when we see a large and brightly lit Christmas tree outside Bangkok’s shopping malls and Father Christmas, though a rather thinner version, on the Sky Train. Although less than 4% of the people in Thailand are Christians, the Thai people as a whole don’t need much excuse to have a party and to put up some tacky decorations. As well as Christmas, they also “celebrate” Halloween and Valentine’s Day in Thailand.
www.thebuddhasface.co.uk A photo slideshow of our holiday in Thailand ,Christmas 2004 - just before the Tsunami - we stayed in the North before deciding to finish our holiday on the beautiful beaches of Thailand - as it was the rainy season in Phuket we decided to spend Christmas on the island of Ko Samet about 4 hours from Bangkok.Oon Boxing Day as we were leaving the terrible news of the unfolding tragedy began to emerge and friends desperate to know where we were began to ring. It was a very lucky escape and I will be grateful for our good fortune to my dying day. May all the people whose lives were tragically lost rest in eternal peace.
My parents, John and Nancy are legends to me. They have looked after me so well, many times when they probably should have given up on me and just washed their hands of their immature son, but they didn’t and I did finally grow up. My parents are currently on a 3, 4 or 5 month holiday, escaping Melbourne’s cold weather. They are in Queensland enjoying sunny days, playing golf and lawn bowls with old and new friends.
