A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Singapore, Singapore by TravelPod blogger Bcc8 titled "Seems a lot like home!" Bcc8's travel blog entry: "I flew into the city-state of Singapore since it was the cheapest place I could fly to from India that was also in the general direction I wanted to go (towards China). I knew little about Singapore other than its reputation for being modern and having very strict laws (until recently even chewing gum was banned). Cultural shock set in immediately after landing in Singapore....after the chaos of India, Singapore was extraordinarily clean , well-organized, and perpetually air-conditioned. The city is chock full of skyscrapers and is a big hub for commerce in Asia
There is a remote community in the mountains of Northern Thailand that is home to hilltribe villages, tea plantations and the so-called “lost army” of the Republic of China Army’s 93rd Division. It is called Santikhiri (Hill of Peace) though most people still refer to this town by its old name of Mae Salong. It is a popular destination for both Thai and foreign tourists who come to enjoy the cool mountain air, relax in one of the many tea shops and also to learn about the rich and varied culture of the groups that live here.
A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Saigon, Vietnam by TravelPod blogger Willdyche titled "South Eastr Asia" Willdyche's travel blog entry: "Hello everyone My time in South East Asia has now reached its extent. Its been a great journey through the three countries, getting to experience new cultures and behold new wonders that can be similar to what you know and expect and at other times totally novel. As ever there is never enough time to see or do as much as you would like and i have only ended up spending a day here in Saigon. Here follows just a few of my recolections and photos that i hope you will enjoy Well, in case you are farang (ang moh, or Caucasian tourist as officially called) your best bet to have a good Chinese New Year would be Thailand. Go Singapore, most shops closed on first day, so no shopping, not so much food. Worst, no festive mood because we go to jail forever for letting off firecrackers.

Lin Ping, the Panda Born in Thailand Thailand has had panda fever ever since the birth of Lin Ping at Chiang Mai Zoo in May 2009. They even have a 24 hour reality show so that people can watch from home. This is a picture that I took of Lin Ping when I visited Chiang Mai Zoo a couple of months ago. The queues to see the pandas used to be very long.

I’m in the back of a luxury Limo on a dirt road, it’s pitch black outside only the occasional checkpoint light breaks the darkness as we speed past the armed guards unchallenged. I’m in one of the most totalitarian regimes on earth, no passport, no travel permits, alongside me half a dozen Chinese gamblers and one enemy of the state……… After what seems like an eon the jungle canopy breaks and the car pulls up in the middle of a vast levelled area concealed deep within the forest. Gaudy neon lights of illegal casinos illuminate the area, around a stream of limousines are pulling up in front of the casino doors dropping tonight’s punters off.
